In 1960 Chris Strachwitz was running a small mail order record service and newsletter called the International Blues Record Club (IBRC). In the summer of 1960 he took the first of many trips that would start his long career as a “song catcher”. This article for the IBRC bulletin was written shortly after his return to California where he would issue the first Arhoolie Record number F1001 “Mance Lipscomb – Texas Sharecropper and Songster“. Read Chris’ description of this landmark journey in the reprint of International Blues Record Club Bulletin No. 3 and 4 – 1960
